BRISBANE NORTH HOCKEY CENTRE CLOSURE
Brisbane North Hockey Centre (BNHC) will be closed from 14 September 2026 for the replacement of light poles on Field 1 and Field 3 (grass field) and for the raising of three (3) poles on Field 2. LED lighting will also be installed on Fields 1 and 3.
This involves civil works for removal and reinstallation of poles as well as removal and replacement of the current lighting and lighting controls. Machinery including cranes and elevated work platforms will be on-site.
The estimate for the construction and re-installation work is 8 to 10 weeks. With a start on 14 September the works are predicted to finish by December 2026. The time frame depends on several factors such as weather and the delivery of the light and pole components.
While BHMG is keen to re-open the hockey centre as soon as possible we need to wait until the works have been completed and the appropriate electrical and structural certifications are completed.
Therefore, the Brisbane North Hockey Centre will be closed from 14 September until construction and certification is completed. While this is predicted to be early December 2026 any delays may extend the closure period.
The centre will be re-opened as soon as practicable and advice of any changes to these dates advised on the BHMG Website .

The Brisbane Hockey Management Group Inc (BHMG) is an initiative of the Brisbane Hockey Association Inc (BHA), the Brisbane Women's Hockey Association Inc (BWHA) and Kedron Wavell Hockey Club Inc (KW) to jointly manage the Brisbane North Hockey Centre (BNHC) Burringbar Park facility at Chermside.
